Event: Is Cardiff beautiful?

Do you think beauty is important when it comes to your quality of life? Is your area beautiful?

Join us at the Grange Pavilion and the Oasis, Splott, to tell us what you think.

You are warmly invited to join two Cardiff University philosophers and Cardiff Civic Society in a two-part workshop to discuss how YOU envisage the future of Cardiff, its buildings, green spaces, and public areas.

The Cardiff Replacement Local Development Plan 2021-2036 is at the consultation stage. It will shape our city for over a decade to come, deciding what gets built and where.  We would like your input.

Together, we will reflect on the issue of beauty where you live.  Asking questions such as:  It’s your city, your community – is it important to you that it’s a beautiful place to live? Do you see beauty in your surroundings as a matter of social justice? What does ‘good design’ mean to you?

What comes out of these sessions will be written up as a submission for the RLDP consultation.

Refreshments will be available, and we will reimburse you for your participation in the one-hour workshops with a £30 food voucher.

Workshop 1:
Monday 3rd June, Grange Pavilion (Grangetown) 18:30-19:30 or
Tuesday 4th June Oasis Small Hall (Splott) 18:30-19:30.

Please sign up for whichever venue is most convenient.

In this first workshop we will explore what beauty means to you, and your feelings about Cardiff’s beauty.

Workshop 2:
Monday 10th June, Grange Pavilion (Grangetown) 18:30-19:30.

In this second workshop we will bring together both Splott and Grangetown residents to share our findings in the earlier workshops, explore how you’ve been influenced by the discussions, and conclude with concrete suggestions for the RLDP.
