*Cardiff Council’s budget consultation for 2023/24 is out now. Please can you fill in the council’s budget consultation. On the issue of St David’s Hall, please select option ‘No’. When they survey asks for your comment you might want to put that you think there is significant scope to improve the running of St David’s Hall relating to classical music and community uses – really maximising the use of the Hall which has world-renowned acoustics – without putting it in the hands of a company who specialises in popular music and who will also be running the new arena in Cardiff Bay. There is also significant potential to improve the marketing of the Hall within the city and beyond.
Please note, the council’s proposal has significant implications for the future use of St David’s Hall as a classical music venue and its use by schools and community groups. There are also implications for current staff many of whom are not on secure contracts. Click here to read more about the council’s plans
Please also consider responding to the question on the proposal to close Cardiff Museum as a permanent exhibition in the city centre, voicing your objection to the plan.
*Please write to your local councillors and your MP and MS to voice your objection to the plan to close the museum. You can find your councillors and your MP and MS and their email addresses by using the following service: https://www.writetothem.com
Letters can be brief – the important thing is to get your objection out there. We have heard that MP’s are questioning the levels of concern about the museum due to the level of letters and emails received.
*Please share this post with at least three other people in Cardiff and encourage them to complete the consultation and write to their councillors.
Thank you for your support. Together we can save St David’s Hall for the benefit of our city.
