New membership rates

- Cardiff Civic Society’s executive wishes to inform the annual general meeting that membership rates for new members will be raised so that they are in line with other civic societies for similar sized towns and cities.  

- A brief survey of other civic societies showed that annual membership was set between the following ranges:

• Individual membership varies between £16 - £35

• Joint membership (same address) £30 - £50

• Young members (18 - 25 yrs) £10 - £15

• Corporate membership £250   

- Our current annual rates are:

• Individual membership: £7

• Couple’s membership: £10

• Students: £5

• Organisation: £30

• Corporate: £50

• Individual life membership £100 (one off payment)

- For new members from 1 January 2025 we propose the following new rates

• Individual membership: £24 (£2 monthly)

• Student/low income: £12 (£1 monthly)

• Corporate: £250 (annual)

• Individual life membership: £240 (one off) 

For reasons of simplification we will drop the ‘organisation’ rate and ‘couples’ rate.  Whilst we do have corporate members, we don’t have any organisational members.  Couples’ membership is difficult to administer and old-fashioned.  

Current members will be invited in March 2025 to switch to the new rates, but they are under no obligation to do so.  

Background

- Membership runs from 1 April to 31 March

- Most members pay by standing order or a recurring PayPal payment
