Join Cardiff Civic Society for a fabulous nature walk on Llantrisant Common

Marsh Fritilliary butterfly

The Inititiative for Nature Conservation Cymru is a strikingly effective organisation helping to bring biodiversity back to our shores.

INCC runs brilliant projects in the Amman Valley – for example, they have worked with small farmers to create linked up habitat, so that a proper wildlife corridor now exists.  They have also helped beautiful pied flycatchers and kestrels to breed successfully by installing nest boxes in suitable locations.

One of the organisation’s key projects recently was to restore populations of the magnificent Marsh Fritillary butterfly to Llantrisant Common.

On May 24, meeting at 10am, Rob Parry, from INCC will lead a walk through the beautiful common area, where we hope to see the Marsh Fritillary, along with abundant birdlife, and wildflowers.

Places on the walk are limited, so please contact Nerys Lloyd-Pierce – chair@cardiffcivicsociety.org if you would like to join us.

If you plan to join this event, please bring some food and water in case you get hungry and thirsty – the walk will take 2-2.5 hours.  Wear sturdy boots, and clothes suitable for the outdoors – the weather can be changeable so bring warm clothes/wet weather gear/suncream and sunhats!.

No dogs, sorry.

The walk is free, but we suggest a voluntary donation of £5 per person to INCC.
